The Chestnut King
SYNOPSIS
Book 3 in N.D. Wilson's 100 Cupboards Trilogy
Random House
Henry now lives in his true home, a world far beyond Henry, Kansas. Defeated twice but not destroyed, Nimiane, the undying witch that Henry and Henrietta released in Book I, disappears. Henry and his family attempt to hunt her down and end her spreading evil forever, but they cannot find her trail. Malevolent forces under control of the powerful Emperor seize control of Henry’s hometown and declare Henry and his family outlaws. The witch, always attracted to power, has gone to Guyon, the greatest city in any of the three empires. There she has rebuilt her strength and used it to seduce the emperor, governing his kingdoms from behind the throne.
Henry, responsible for Nimiane’s freedom, must uncover her hidden lair and destroy her forever. But even traveling with his father, his family, and his friends, he will not be strong enough. He must find the Chestnut King, the long deposed and mythic ruler of the faeren people. And having found him, he must gain his powerful support. In exchange, the Chestnut King makes a nearly impossible request in return. Henry must now decide whether to let Nimiane’s unyielding evil envelop the world, or make a powerful sacrifice for the family, friends, and home he has come to love.
